Earlier this week drag artists Dan Chan, The Queen of Heartbreak, Dross, Auntie Climax, Filla Crack and Baba Yagga took to the stage to host a Drag Cabaret Roastmas in aid of Sahir House.
This festive extravaganza was supported by Secret Circus and took place at the Fashion Hub in Liverpool’s Fabric District.
Supporters turned out in force to enjoy lip syncs, comedy skits, a touch of burlesque, live music and a tasty comedy roast. Those in attendance also enjoyed food from Guac ‘n’ Roll and a charity raffle.
Speaking at the event, The Queen of Heartbreak (Eve Howlett) a comedy poet who runs the infamous Secret Circus, said:
“Sahir House is an incredibly important local charity who do the most amazing things, we’re delighted to be able to do all we can to help”
Ant Hopkinson, Sahir House CEO, added:
“This is what community support and activism looks like – bold, unapologetic and fabulous!
Nothing makes my heart sing more than to see our community at the epicentre of such activity – driving us forward to ensure support for their peers, friends and LGBTQ+ family.”
One way to support Sahir House is by organising your own fundraising event, activity or challenge. We’re always amazed by the interesting and unusual ideas our fundraisers come up with – from quizzes, club nights and live music, to sponsored swims, expeditions, bike rides and tandem skydives.
It doesn’t need to be expensive or extravagant – many of our fundraisers organise smaller activities, such as car washing, cake sales or a walking challenge. The possibilities are never-ending and Sahir House Team is always ready to help and support you with your fundraising efforts. Get in touch by emailing info@sahir.org.uk
