Liverpool’s Pride March 2026, delivered in partnership by LCR Pride Foundation and Sahir House. We’re excited to have you join us in this powerful act of LGBTQ+ visibility, community, and solidarity.

This guidance provides everything you need to know about the march: timings, the new pedestrianised route, accessibility, safety, and what to expect on the day.

🕘 Timings on the Day

  • 10:00 AM – Assembly Commences: Arrive at the Houghton Street / Clayton Square assembly areas.
  • 11:00 AM – Muster & Speeches: Housekeeping and community voices will open the event from the St John’s Beacon balcony.
  • 11:30 AM – March Sets Off: The march forms up and officially begins its route.
  • 12:30 PM – Arrival & Dispersal: The parade reaches Lord Street, where a staggered dispersal begins.

Please aim to arrive between 10:00 AM and 10:45 AM so you have time to safely settle into your designated assembly zone and take part in the opening space.

🚦 Getting to the Muster Point

To ensure a smooth flow of traffic and avoid congestion, please use these specific routes to reach the Clayton Square assembly area depending on your arrival point:

  • From Queen Square Bus Station: Walk directly through St John’s Shopping Centre (SJC) and exit via the Elliot Street doors.
  • From Lime Street Station / Great Charlotte Street: Head up the Elliot Street ramp/steps, or walk through SJC.
  • From Liverpool Central Station: Walk straight through the Clayton Square shopping centre.
  • From Moorfields Station: Head via Stanley Street and Whitechapel, then move up Church Street and Parker Street.

Security and stewards will be stationed at the Houghton Street / Williamson Square junction to direct you safely.

🚶 Getting Ready to March & Assembly Zones

We want everyone to feel welcome, informed, and empowered to take their place. To safely manage the crowd and ensure a smooth departure, the Clayton Square assembly area will be divided into specific zones. When you arrive, please head to your designated section:

  • Zone 1 (Red Area – Priority): March Leaders. The march will be proudly led by GYRO, stationed right at the front.
  • Zone 2 (Green Area): Sponsors. Our official 2026 sponsors and partners will form the second block directly behind the leaders.
  • Zones 3, 4 & 5 (Blue, Pink & Purple Areas): Registered Groups & Individuals. All registered charities, businesses, community organisations, and registered individuals will gather in these main central blocks.
  • Zone 6 (Brown Area – Overflow): Everyone Else! Members of the public and unregistered attendees are completely welcome and will form the final section of the march.

Moving Together: After GYRO and the lead groups have departed, the remaining segments will be released into the march gradually, coordinated by our security stewards using the PA system.

Walking-Only Parade: This year’s march is strictly walking-only. No vehicles or floats are permitted, placing the focus firmly on our people and collective voice.

Age Requirements: Young people under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the assembly and the march.

This is a community march, and we ask everyone to carry themselves in a way that makes space for others, moving with care and respect.

🗺️ March Route Summary

  • Start Point: Houghton Street / Clayton Square (in front of St John’s Beacon).
  • End Point: Lord Street.
  • Distance: Approximately 1.7 km.
  • Duration: Approximately 1 hour.

📍 The Main Route:

Winds from Clayton Square down Parker Street and Church Street, looping through Williamson Square and Whitechapel. It then heads up Church Alley and School Lane, entering Liverpool ONE via Peter’s Lane and Wall Street, before safely dispersing onto Lord Street.

♿ The Accessibility & Neurodivergent Route:

For anyone who might find the crowds, echo, or noise of the lower level of Liverpool ONE overwhelming, we are operating a supervised alternative route. This route bypasses Liverpool ONE entirely, proceeding straight down School Lane to pause and safely rejoin the main parade at the Paradise Street junction before finishing on Lord Street.

♿ Accessibility

We are committed to creating an inclusive and accessible experience for everyone.

  • Step-Free: The entire 2026 route is situated within pedestrianised zones, making it fully step-free and wheelchair-accessible throughout.
  • No Road Closures: We have eliminated the need for road closures to provide an inherently safer, pedestrian-first environment.
  • Support on Route: Dedicated SIA stewards and St John Ambulance first aiders will be walking with the march and on hand to assist anyone with additional needs.

⚠️ Safety and Support

Your safety is our priority. We’ve planned this march to be as safe, accessible, and welcoming as possible.

  • Stewards: SIA Security staff and Pride Volunteers will be clearly identifiable and present throughout the route.
  • Medical: First Aid support from St John Ambulance will be available and walking alongside the parade.
  • Community Care: If at any point you feel unsafe, unwell, overwhelmed, or need help, speak to a steward immediately. We encourage all attendees to look out for one another. Pride means no one gets left behind.

📌 We recommend:

  • Bringing water and snacks.
  • Wearing comfortable footwear for the 1.7km walk.
  • Dressing for the weather (sunscreen, layers, rain protection).

🎉 After the March: Dispersal & Next Steps

The march concludes on Lord Street at approximately 12:30 PM. To prevent overcrowding and allow the rest of the parade to finish safely, we ask that you continue moving forward to disperse.

  • Heading to the Pride Quarter? Individuals can use Dorans Lane, Harrington Street, or Rainford Square. Registered groups should head via North John Street through to Victoria Street.
  • Heading to the Pier Head (LEX)? Individuals can head down through South John Street / Liverpool ONE. Registered groups should follow Lord Street down toward James Street and Mann Island.
