The inaugural Sahir Awards will celebrate courage, care and community across the Liverpool City Region. Taking place on Thursday 26 November 2026 at the Hilton Hotel Liverpool, the awards will honour individuals, groups and organisations making an outstanding contribution to HIV awareness, LGBT+ equality, health equity and community support.

Hosted by Danny Beard, the evening will bring together supporters, partners, businesses and community leaders for a special dinner event that shines a light on people changing lives, challenging stigma and building a fairer future. Nominations are now open across five categories, and we encourage people to nominate those who deserve recognition by 5pm on Wednesday 30 September 2026. All nominees must live, work, volunteer or deliver services in the Liverpool City Region.

Nomination Rules

  • Nominees must live, work, volunteer or deliver services in the Liverpool City Region.
  • Nominations close at 5pm on Wednesday 30 September 2026.
  • Nominations can be made for an individual, group, project, organisation or business, depending on the award category.
  • Nominees should have made a clear contribution to HIV awareness, LGBT+ equality, health equity, community support or social justice.
  • Self-nominations are accepted, but they must include clear evidence of impact.
  • Each nomination must be submitted using the official Sahir Awards nomination form.
  • Nominators may submit more than one nomination, but each nomination must be made separately.
  • Nominees must be willing to be contacted by Sahir if shortlisted.
  • Shortlisted nominees may be named publicly in Sahir communications, press releases, social media and event materials.
  • The judging panel’s decision is final.
  • Sahir reserves the right to move a nomination into a different category if it is better suited.
  • Sahir reserves the right not to make an award in a category if there are not enough suitable nominations.
  • Trustees, staff and judging panel members must declare any conflict of interest before nominations are considered.
  • Current Sahir staff and trustees are not eligible for individual awards, but they may be part of wider partnership or project nominations where appropriate.
  • The Lifetime Contribution Award may be selected directly by Sahir rather than through open nomination.
