Charity Abseil

Fierce Liverpool drag queens Debbie Darling and Ketona Madrave swapped their heels for harnesses and took part, along with Sahir’s Barry Jones and Sofia Francisco and Tim Bold of MICT, in a thrilling charity abseil to raise funds and awareness for Sahir, Liverpool’s oldest LGBTQ+ charity.

Why did they do it? Because supporting our LGBTQ+ community is more important than ever! Sahir has been the beating heart of Liverpool’s fight for equality and inclusion for nearly 40 years, providing vital services for people living with or affected by HIV during this time. Debbie and Ketona know the power of community, and were passionate about giving back to a charity that has helped so many in need; having organised many fundraisers for us in the past – from aquatic obstacle courses, to comedy roasts, this was another amazing feat of support from the Liverpool Drag community.

Sahir’s Barry Jones, and Sofia and Tim from MICT threw their support and fund raising efforts behind the delicious duo. Together the fearless five created quite the spectacle, as Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral welcomed abseiling Drag-Queens through its doors and down its face for the first time in herstory!

This abseil wasn’t just a test of courage but a statement of love, solidarity, and support for a cause that means the world to them all raising over £1700 for vital charity services to our LGBTQ+ community.

So, if you love drag, want to support Sahir House, or just want to celebrate the spectacle of queens dangling from great heights, you can still donate today here and celebrate their achievement!
