What is PrEP?

PrEP stands for Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis. It is a medication for people who are HIV-negative, but who are at high risk of acquiring HIV. It significantly reduces the risk of HIV infection when taken as prescribed.

How it works

PrEP can be taken on either on a daily basis to manage long-term risk, or during specific ‘events based’ activity when exposure to HIV is of concern.

How to access it

PrEP is provided free on the NHS. You can be assessed for suitability at your local sexual health clinic.
